Today, the bronze medals in women’s hockey were awarded. The team of Finland competed with the team of Olympic Athletes from Russia for the chance to become medalists of 2018 Winter Olympics. As a result, the Finnish team won with the score of 3:2. It’s the third time the Finnish female team wins bronze at Olympic Games. They were bronze medalists of 1998 and 2010 Olympics.

Michelle Karvinen, a forward of the Finnish team, shared her feelings after winning the game: “Nobody wants to give up a medal game, so we were fighting the whole game and I'm extremely proud of the team. I think we kept it together and were extremely disciplined. We handled the pressure all the way to the end”.

Her team-mate Noora Raty described Finland's victory in the following way: "Pretty awesome – probably one of the best days of my life. This has been the day we've been waiting for the past four years after Sochi".

Goaltender Raty, who already won bronze at 2010 Winter Olympics, compared this game with the one in Vancouver: "We beat Sweden in overtime in Vancouver so that was a pretty great feeling to beat your biggest rival in overtime, and we were underdogs in that game. I think we were favorites today, so it was a little bit more pressure than Vancouver, but I would put both of them pretty high in my career".
