2018 FIFA World Cup: Wins of France, Croatia and Denmark, the Draw Between Argentina and Iceland

On June 16, 4 matches took place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia: France vs. Australia, Argentina vs. Iceland, Peru vs. Denmark and Croatia vs. Nigeria.

The match between France and Australia ended up with the score 2:1 in favor of France. After scoring no goals in the first period, the second part of the game was much more vivid. On the 58th minute, French player Antoine Griezmann converted the penalty with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The score was leveled on the 62nd minute, when Mile Jedinak converted the penalty.

The outcome of the game was decided on the 81st minute, when midfielder Paul Pogba scored the second goal of the French team, assisted by Olivier Giroud. The French forward, Antoine Griezmann was voted as the Man of the Match.

The confrontation between Argentina and Iceland ended with the draw 1:1. The both goals were scored in the first period. The score was opened by Argentina. Sergio Aguero scored a goal on the 19th minute. The Iceland answered with a goal from Alfred Finnbogason on the 23rd minute. Hannes Halldorsson from Iceland was called Man of the Match.

In the third game, Denmark gained the minimal win over Peru with the score 0:1. The only goal was scored at the 59th minute by Yussuf Yurary Poulsen, who was voted as the Man of the Match. He was assisted by Christian Eriksen.

The final match of the day between Croatia and Nigeria ended with the victory of Croatia 2:0. The first goal was scored on the 32nd minute by Nigeria’s Oghenekaro Etebo, who scored the goal into the net of his own goalkeeper. On the 71st minute, midfielder Luka Modric converted the penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. Also, Modric gained the title of Man of the Match.
