2018 FIFA World Cup: Russia Wins in the First Game of the World Cup

The first game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup finished with a plenty of goals. The team of Russia gained its first victory at the competition in the game against Saudi Arabia with the score 5:0. It’s a great start for the hosts as they scored 5 goals and didn’t skip any goal. In such a way, the Russians recorded the biggest win by the host nation in the opening game of a World Cup since 1934.

The first goal was scored by Yuri Gazinskii at the 12th minute after a pass from Aleksandr Golovin from a corner. By the end of the first period, on the 43rd minute, one more goal was scored by Denis Cheryshev.

In the second half of the game, the domination of Russia continued. Artem Dzyuba scored on the 71st minute after another assist by Golovin. Also, 2 more goals were scored in the additional time. First, Cheryshev, who was called Man of the Match, made a double. And later, Golovin marked the 5th goal of the Russian team.
