2018 FIFA World Cup: France and Belgium Get to the Semifinal

On July 6, the first two participants of the 2018 FIFA World Cup semifinal became known. France and Belgium gained victories in quarterfinals and thus, the both teams will meet in the semifinal on July 10.

France won in a match against Uruguay with the score 0:2. On the 40th minute, Raphael Varane headed to the bottom left corner after an assist from Antoine Griezmann, making his team lead. The second goal of the French team was scored on the 61st minute. Antoine Griezmann left footed to the high centre of the goal, assisted by Corentin Tolisso.

Antoine Griezmann, one of the best strikers in the world, was voted as Man of the Match for a goal, assist and much work he had done on the field. Lucas Hernandez, Rodrigo Bentancur, Cristian Rodriquez, Kylian Mbappe were shown yellow cards.

Brazil lost to Belgium with the score 1:2. On the 13th minute, Brazilians made a present for the Belgian team when Fernandinho scored a goal into his own net. On the 31st minute, Kevin De Bruyne doubled the dominance of Belgium, scoring a goal to the bottom left corner after an assist from Romelu Lukaku. On the 76th minute, Renato Augusto headed to the bottom right corner, assisted by Philippe Coutinho. However, that didn’t save his team from leaving the battle for the World Cup.

Kevin De Bruyne was elected as Man of the Match for scoring a goal and delivering the corner, which led to the own goal. Toby Alderweireld, Thomas Meunier, Fernandinho and Fagner received yellow cards.
