Wimbledon 2018 Day 5: Victories of Anderson, Zverev, Isner, Federer and Pliskova, Defeat of Venus Williams

On July 6, the third round of men’s and women’s singles at 2018 Wimbledon took place. Venus Williams was defeated by Kiki Bertens. Roger Federer, John Isner, Kevin Anderson, Serena Williams, Alexander Zverev and Karolina Pliskova continued their winning series.

The main sensation of the day was related to the match Venus Williams-Kiki Bertens. Venus, seeded 9th, lost to Kiki (Netherlands), seeded 20th: 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 8-6. Kiki Bertens can be proud of herself for getting to the 4th round for the first time in her career as well as for kicking off Williams, who is 5-time Wimbledon champion.

The match lasted for 2 hours and 40 minutes. By the third set, it was really a titanic struggle, but the Dutch player managed to beat legendary Williams.

Her sister, Serena Williams won in a match against Kristina Mladenovic (France): 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).

Kevin Anderson (South Africa) won in game against Philipp Kohlschhreiber (Germany): 3-6, 5-7, 5-7.

Taylor Fritz (USA) lost to Alexander Zverev (Germany): 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7/0), 1-6, 2-6.

John Isner (USA), who was seeded 9th, won in a game with Radu Albot (Moldova): 6-3, 6-3, 6-4.

2017 Wimbledon champion, Roger Federer, defeated Jan-Lennard Struff (Germany): 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.

7th seed, Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) gained a victory over Mihaela Buzarnescu (Romania): 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.
