Stina Nilsson was born on June 24, 1993, in Malung, Sweden. She is a gold medalist of Junior World Championships of 2011 and 2013 as well as a silver medalist of 2012. In 2011, she won the individual sprint event at European Junior Olympic Festival.

World Championships and Other International Competitions

Nilsson debuted at the World Championships in 2013. She finished 5th in sprint. In 2015, the skier showed better results by gaining 3 silver medals in sprint, relay and team sprint. At 2017 World Championships, she won silver in relay, finished 4th in team sprint, 13th in individual and 26th in skiathlon.

Besides, Stina participated in the Scandinavian Cup. She earned 7 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals there.

World Cup

Stina Nilsson debuted at the World Cup in 2012 in Drammen and finished 23rd. In her debut season, she showed the best result in Liberec by winning a silver medal. She finished on the overall 67th place and on the 38th place in sprint.

In 2013/14 season, the cross-country skier rose to the 35th overall position, by being 12th in sprint. She won a bronze medal in Drammen. In 2014/15 season, she was on the 12th place, winning the title in U23 and being 4th in sprint.

The following season, she won the U23 title once again in addition to being a bronze medalist in sprint and gaining a silver medal at Nordic Opening. Stina was 11th in the overall rating. In 2016/17, the athlete reached her best overall position to the date, the 4th place. She was a silver medalist in sprint. Moreover, she won bronze medals at Tour de Ski and World Cup Final.

In 2017/18 season, Stina Nilsson retained her silver in sprint, but was 12th in the overall rankings. In total, the skier won 15 races at the World Cup and rose to the podium 31 times.

Stina made an Olympic debut in 2014 Sochi. She became a bronze medalist in team sprint, together with Ida Ingemarsdotter, and finished 10th in sprint.

But the greater success waited for her at 2018 Winter Olympics. Nilsson claimed gold in sprint and bronze in 30 km mass start. She was also a silver medalist in relay, together with Anna Haag, Charlotte Kalla and Ebba Andersson, and team sprint, in duo with Charlotte Kalla.

So, you see that Stina Nilsson worked a lot in order to become 4-time medalist of 2018 Winter Olympics. The athlete is still very young and we will surely witness her other achievements.
