2018 FIFA World Cup: Sweden, Switzerland, Brazil and Mexico Proceed to the Round of 16

On June 27, the participants of the knockout phase from groups E and F were determined. Thus, we will watch the matches Sweden vs. Switzerland and Brazil vs. Mexico. In their final games of the group phase Korea Republic, Sweden and Brazil gained victories while Switzerland and Costa Rica had a draw.

Mexico lost to Sweden, 0:3, but it didn’t prevent the both teams to proceed further. Ludwig Augustinsson opened the score on the 50th minute, assisted by Viktor Claesson. The second goal was scored by Andreas Granqvist on the 62nd minute. On the 74th minute, Edson Alvarez helped the Swedes by scoring a goal into his own net.

Ludwig Augustinsson was called Man of the Match. The yellow cards were received by Jesus Gallardo, Sebastian Larsson, Hector Moreno, Miguel Layun and Mikael Lustig.

Korea Republic gained a sensational victory over the reigning world champions, Germany, with the score 2:0. The both teams will leave the competition. The both goals of Korea Republic were scored in the additional time. On 90+3 minute, Kim Young-Gwon scored a goal. And on 90+6 minute, Son Heung-Min scored the second goal of Korea.

Jo Hyeonwoo was Man of the Match. Jung Woo-Young, Lee Jae-Sung, Moon Seon-Min, Son Heung-Min received yellow cards.

The match between Serbia and Brazil ended with the victory of the latter, 0:2. Brazil took the lead on the 36th minute, when Paulinho scored a goal, assisted by Coutinho. The second goal was scored on the 68th minute by Thiago Silva after an assist of Neymar.

Paulinho was called Man of the Match. The yellow cards were shown to Adem Ljajic, Nemanja Matic and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Switzerland and Costa Rica finished the match with a draw, 2:2. The Swiss opened the score on the 31st minute after a goal of Blerim Dzemaili, assisted by Breel Embolo. Costa Rica scored on the 56th minute. Kendall Waston headed a goal after an assist from Joel Campbell. On the 88th minute, Josip Drmic (Switzerland) scored, assisted by Denis Zakaria. But the own goal of Yann Sommer turned the score to 2:2.

Switzerland’s Blerim Dzemaili was voted as Man of the Match. Cristian Gamboa, Joel Campbell, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Denis Zakaria, Fabian Schar and Kendall Waston got yellow cards.
