Wimbledon 2018: All the Results of Day 1

On July 2, the first day of Wimbledon 2018, the first round of gentlemen’s and ladies’ singles took place. Here are all the results of Day 1 games.

Gentlemen’s Singles 1st Round

Defending champion and the Swiss top seed, Roger Federer won in the match with Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic: 6-1, 6-3, 6-4.

Third seed Marin Cilic (Croatia), who lost in the final of 2017 Wimbledon to Federer, beat Yoshihito Nishioka (Japan): 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

Stan Wawrinka (Switzerland), the former world #3, proved that he had fully recovered from an injury after beating six-seeded Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria): 1-6, 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (75), 6-4.

Liam Broady, a current British #4, lost to Canadian Milos Raonic, seeded 13th: 7-5, 6-0, 6-1.

Gael Monfils beat his compatriot Richard Gasquet: 7-6 (8/6), 7-5, 6-4.

American Sam Querrey, seeded 11th, gained a victory over Jordan Thompson (New Zealand): 6-2, 6-4, 6-3.

John Isner, America’s 9th seed, won in a game with Yannick Maden from Germany: 6-2, 7-6(7/4), 7-5.

Serena Williams gained a victory over Dutch player Arantxa Rus: 7-5, 6-3.

Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark), who was seeded second, won in the match against Varvara Lepchenko (USA): 6-0, 6-3.

American Madison Keys, seeded 10th, gained a victory over New Zealander Ajla Tomljanovic: 6-4, 6-2.

Six-time champion, Venus Williams, defeated Swede Johanna Larsson: 6-7 (3/7), 6-2, 6-1.

CoCo Vandeweghe (USA) lost to Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) with the score 6-7 (3/7), 6-3, 8-6 in a battle that lasted for 3 hours and 4 minutes.

A 2012 finalist, Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland) managed to win in the game with Elena-Gabriela Ruse from Romania: 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.

Croatian Donna Vekic beat American Sloane Stephens, who was seeded 4th,with the score 6-1, 6-3.

Ukrainian 5th seed, Elina Svitolina was defeated by German Tatjana Maria: 7-6 (7/3), 4-6, 6-1.
