Speed Skating: Japanese Speed Skaters Won the Women’s Team Pursuit

Miho Takagi, Ayano Sato and Nana Takagi

Japanese team, which included Miho Takagi, Ayano Sato and Nana Takagi, won gold in women’s team pursuit. They finished with the overall time of 2 minutes 53.89 seconds and set a new Olympic record. It’s the third medal for Miho Takagi, who earned silver in 1500 m and bronze in 1000m.

Marrit Leenstra, Ireen Wust and Antoinette de Jong, members of the Dutch team, won silver medals by finishing in 2 minutes 55.48 seconds. Leenstra also won bronze in 1500m, Jong became a bronze medalist in 3000m while Wust, the most successful athlete from Netherlands at Winter Olympics, won gold in 1500 m and silver in 3000m.

The American team took bronze. Heather Bergsma, Brittany Bowe and Mia Manganello finished in 2 minutes 59.27 seconds.
