Perrine Laffont Is a Rising Star of Moguls Skiing

Perrine Laffont had a great season in 2017/18. She became an Olympic champion as well as the World Champion in addition to a great number of other medals. At it’s just at 19! Let’s dig a little bit deeper and get to know more about this French mogul skier.

Perrine Laffont was born on October 28, 1998, in Lavalanet, France. She got engaged into freestyle skiing by her parents from Monts d’Olmes resort, being 2 years old. Later, Perrine moved to Annecy to study and after finishing the high school, she became a student of Savoie-Mont-Blanc University. Along with freestyle skiing, the athlete trained in alpine skiing, but finally gave preference to moguls.

At 15, Laffont became a member of the national team at 2014 Winter Olympics. In 2015, she claimed gold medals in moguls and dual moguls at the Junior World Ski Championships. She also claimed gold in moguls at 2016 Junior Championships. Previously, in 2013, she was a junior bronze medalist in moguls and dual moguls.

Perrine debuted at the World Championships in 2013, but didn’t win any medals. She finished 13th in moguls and 6th in dual moguls. At 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada, she became a gold medalist in dual moguls and a silver medalist in moguls.

In addition, Perrine Laffont took part in other international competitions. At Australian New Zealand Cup, she earned a gold medal in moguls in 2017 as well as 2 silver and 1 bronze medals in 2015. At 2013 Europa Cup, she won 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.

World Cup and Winter Olympics

Laffont took part in her first World Cup event in 2014 Calgary, where she finished 20th. At 2016 Tazawako, she claimed her first gold medal in moguls and at 2016 Moscow, she claimed her first gold in dual moguls. The same year, the athlete won a moguls silver medal in Ruka.

In 2017, the mogul skier won silver in moguls in Lake Placid and Tazawako. In 2017 Thaiwoo, she became a gold medalist in moguls and a silver medalist in dual moguls. In 2018, Perrine claimed moguls gold in Deer Valley and won 2 silver medals in Calgary and Deer Valley. Moreover, she claimed gold in moguls at 2018 Tazawako and silver in dual moguls at 2018 Megeve.

Perrine debuted at the Olympic Games in 2014 Sochi, being only 15 years old. She finished 14th in women’s moguls. At 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, the athlete claimed a gold medal in moguls, being only 19 years old. She is the first Frenchwoman, who became an Olympic champion in moguls.

So, we have no doubts that Perrine Laffont will have much more victories and podiums in her career. She is very young and may achieve astonishing results in freestyle skiing in future.
