Nordic Combined: Eric Frenzel Defended His Olympic Title in Normal Hill 10 km Event

German Nordic combined skier Eric Frenzel defended his title of Olympic champion in normal hill 10 km event and gained his second Olympic gold. Also, Frenzel is a bronze medalist of 2010 Winter Olympics and a silver medalist of 2014 Olympics in team large hill event. After the ski jumping round, the German skier was ranked 5th. However, showing great results in cross-country skiing, he managed to become a winner.

Eric Frenzel already commented his victory: “It’s amazing. I feel really great. It was quite a hard race. My goal on the last round was to push really hard in the last few metres and on the last uphill section. The only way to go was to get in front and to make my own race. I’m really, really happy with this victory today”.

Akito Watabe (Japan), a silver medalist of 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, earned a silver medal. And Austrian athlete Lukas Klapher, Sochi’s bronze medalist in 4 x 5 km team, became a bronze medalist. The places from 4 to 10 were divided among:
