Alpine Skiing: Frida Hansdotter Got Her First Olympic Medal in Slalom

Frida Hansdotter

Swedish alpine skier, Frida Hansdotter, won her first Olympic gold by finishing first in women’s slalom. After 2 runs, her total time was 1:38.63. This victory made Hansdotter the second Swedish woman to win the Olympic slalom after Anja Parson in 2006. Moreover, being 32 years and 65 days old, she became the second oldest Swedish woman to win an individual event at the Winter Olympic Games.

Frida shared her emotions with the journalists: “I love skiing and I love racing, to be able to ski at this level is so much fun and now I bring home a gold medal. It is a lot of hard work and a lot of years, but it is worth every minute when I am standing here”. She also added: “I was the last one on top. I knew what could happen, but I also knew what could go wrong. If you are the last one on the start and you know you can win or get a medal, it's not that easy to bring it home”.
