Alpine Skiing: Aksel Lund Svindal Is an Olympic Champion in Men’s Downhill
Aksel Lund Svindal, who is the most successful Norwegian downhill skier in World Championships history, gained a gold medal in men’s downhill in 2018 PyeongChang. He finished the competition in 1:40.25.
By winning this title, Svindal became the first Norwegian to win a gold medal in men’s downhill event as well as the first man to have won both the downhill and super-G gold medals at Olympic Games. Moreover, this medal is the 4th one in Aksel’s collection. At 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he athlete gained gold in Super-G, silver in downhill and bronze in giant slalom.
Another Norwegian alpine skier, Kjetil Jansrud, who was a gold and bronze medalist of 2014 Winter Olympics as well as a silver medalist of 2010 Olympics, became a silver medalist after completing the race in 1:40.37, and Swiss Beat Feuz won a bronze medal with the time of 1:40.43.
