2018 FIFA World Cup: France Is the World Champion

France is the winner of 2018 FIFA World Cup! The French waited for this moment for 20 years and they finally reached their aim in the highest-scoring final in regular time since 1958. In a hard but spectacular match with Croatia, France managed to gain victory with the score 4:2.

On the 18th minute, Croatian Mario Mandzukic made a present to France by scoring into his own net. On the 28th minute, his teammate Ivan Perisic evened the score after an assist from Domagoj Vida. However, France made the lead after a penalty, converted by Antoine Griezmann.

In the second period, France scored twice. First, Paul Pogba turned the score to 3:1 on the 59th minute. And on the 65th minute, Kylian Mbappe scored after an assist from Lucas Hernandez. Mario Mandzukic managed to score a goal on the 69th minute, but it wasn’t enough to gain a victory over France.

Antoine Griezmann was voted as Man of the Match. Also, at the ceremony, the best players of the World Cup were awarded. Thus, Kylian Mbappe (France) became Best Young Player, Harry Kane (England) received a Golden Boot, Luka Modric (Croatia) gained a Golden Ball and Thibaut Courtois (Belgium) got the Golden Glove.
