Snowboarding: Michela Moioli Becomes an Olympic Gold Medalist in Snowboard Cross

Italian snowboarder, Michela Moioli, won the ladies’ snowboard cross and became a gold medalist of 2018 PyeongChang. It’s the first Olympic medal of the athlete.

After the final, Michela shared her emotions: “I have no words. It’s the best day of my life – really. No words. I started to cry when I crossed the finish line and I’m going to cry again maybe. I’m really happy. I just want to say thank you to all the people who helped me through this long trip from the last Olympics. Really, thanks to you my family, to my team, to my friends”.

Julia Pereira de Sousa Mabileau (France) gained a silver medal while Eva Samkova (Czech Republic), a gold medalist of 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, won a bronze medal.

Lindsey Jacobellis (USA), a silver medalist of 2006 Olympics, finished fourth, Chloe Trespeuch (France), a bronze medalist of 2014 Olympic Games – fifth and Aleksandra Zhekova (Bulgaria) – sixth.
